What can we expect from an Apple TV?

The recently published biography of Steve Jobs, simply titled “Steve Jobs”, has brought to light many facets of the Apple creator’s personal and business life. One such revelation was that Jobs felt he had finally come up with the solution to create Apple’s answer to the standard HDTV.

Apple had been rumored to be developing an integrated TV system for quite some time. Like all Apple products, it was envisioned to be simplistic and user-friendly. In an article for tech site AllThingsD, a comparison was drawn to the Bose VideoWave integrated TV system by Global Equities Research analyst, Trip Chowdhry. So, how would an Apple TV compare with other systems available today? According to Chowdhry, the set would likely have a single cord. The Apple TV would be very thin, a fraction of the comparable Bose system. There would also be a built-in surround sound system negating the use of external speakers.

Keep in mind the whole idea put forth is purely hypothetical based on Apple’s typical designs and interfaces. There is no mention of price point or whether several different sized models would be available – although, it is likely Apple would present a variety of set sizes. It is also not known whether the design would allow for use with TV lift cabinets. However, with the extent that Apple has revolutionized the personal computer, cell phone and MP3 player, it will be interesting to see how Apple’s version of HDTV plays out – if it is, in fact, in development.

Email From One of Our Customers...

We received this email the other day from one of our customers.  These customers purchased our lovely two toned Sycamore TV Lift Cabinet featured to the right.  See what these customers had to say about their new TV lift cabinet.

"It's here and It's FABULOUS!!!!!!!!

Oh, my goodness!  I am so pleased with this cabinet.  The quality is far greater than it looks in the pictures.  Service delivery was outstanding.  They called a day ahead and 30 minutes before they hit our town to give me a head's up. Packing of the unit was quite impressive.  Not a chance of there being a scratch on that piece.  We are anxious to get the new TV installed in it tomorrow and get it up and running.  Thanks for all your great service."

-Montee and Sue from Angel Fire, New Mexico

We love hearing from happy customers.  It makes our day.  Thank you Montee and Sue for sending us this wonderful email.

World Series kicks off on Wednesday in St. Louis

Over the next week, sports fans will officially make the transition from summer sports to winter sports with the start of the MLB World Series. This year’s championship has the American League’s Texas Rangers facing off against the National League Wildcard, St. Louis Cardinals. You can catch the action on your TV lift cabinet starting Wednesday, October 19 at 8:05PM ET on FOX. The Series kicks off in St. Louis where the Cardinals are considered underdogs to the Rangers’ domination.  However, the momentum that the Cardinals have gained through the playoffs so far could work in their favor. The Cardinals have two games at home before heading back to Texas for Games 3 and 4.

Texas, on the other hand, have been considered favorites by many throughout the entire season. The two main obstacles that could have thwarted the Rangers’ play-off run were the Red Sox and the Yankees. With the Red Sox (shockingly) not making the play offs and the Yankees being eliminated at the hands of the Detroit Tigers, the Rangers have another chance to take home top prize.

Be sure to tune into the World Series on your TV lift cabinet to make sure you do not miss any of the action!

Come view our customer, Arnie’s Kensington TV Lift Cabinet!  This beautiful cabinet is finished in a rich tobacco brown, offers plenty of storage for electronic equipment and features an interchangeable wood and speaker cloth panel for the center drawer.  Arnie opted to change out the wood panel in the center drawer to speaker cloth as he has a BOSE single unit speaker system.

“Thanks for the opportunity to comment on our Kensington unit purchased in Nov 2008…. I also put in the interchangeable speaker cloth panel, which accommodates our BOSE single unit speaker system. GREAT SOUND EFFECTS!!!..." – Arnie from Maryland.

Customer Spotlight – Ben from Vancouver, WA

I recently had a customer ask if our reviews were made up or if these reviews were written by actual customers.  My answer to that question is “YES, are reviews are most certainly written by our customers.”

Several months ago, I sent out a mass email to our existing customers encouraging them to share their home photos of their TV lift cabinets with us.  My goal was to be able to share these home photos with you all as I know that the best reviews are ones that come directly from other customers.  The response I got from this email blast, was overwhelming positive.  Our customers were excited to share their home photos and show off their beautiful TV lift cabinets.

Below is a review I received from Ben from Vancouver, MA.  Ben purchased the Banyan Creek TV Lift Cabinet and opted to switch out the wood panel for the speaker cloth.

“We moved into a new home with an open kitchen into the living room design. So with an "L" shape couch on one wall with windows and a fire place on the opposite wall that left only one wall for the television and to hang a very large framed pelican print.

The solution to our problem was this beautiful TV lift cabinet. This way when we were not watching the television we could still view the pelican print.

We were very nervous about ordering this sight unseen, but we just couldn't find anything locally that we liked. When it arrived we were absolutely thrilled! The craftsmanship and quality of this piece is outstanding.

The delivery crew was professional and had the cabinet unpacked and in place in less than 45 minutes. We cannot say enough good things about our experience with TVLiftCabinet.com.

A couple of months after we moved into our new home we held an housewarming and our guests were asking why we didn't have a television in the living room. Talk about the WOW factor when I press the remote and up out of this beautiful piece of furniture raised a 46" LED television, everyone was stunned.”

The Kindle Fire is Definitely Worth Looking At

Amazon’s Kindle Fire Tablets are selling better than expected.  With over 20,000 sold per day Amazon is grabbing a nice piece of the Tablet game industry.  Tablets became a big hit when Apple launched the iPad.  However, the iPad tablet comes with a price point at $600 or more.  In this economic recession, many people cannot justify spending that much money on a tablet.

Amazon recognized this problem and saw a perfect opportunity to market a more affordable tablet to this group.  The result is the Kindle Fire, which is currently on sale for only $199.

The Kindle Fire allows users to browse the web using Amazon’s fast silk browser, listen to music, read books and magazines, streamline videos and send and receive emails.

The Kindle Fire has Whispersync technology built in.  With Whispersync, consumers can start a movie on their Kindle Fire, pause it, and then resume watching their show right where they had left off from their TV Lift Cabinet.  The Kindle Fire also has free cloud storage, very durable display to protect from breaking, and fast dual processor so that consumers can be listening to music while surfing the web.

Americans can pre-order their Kindle Fires now with shipments beginning on November 15th.  It is still to be decided when it will be available to customers located outside the United States.

Japanese TV And Mobile Phone Providers To Launch Mobile-Only TV Station

Japan’s largest mobile operator and major television stations have announced plans to launch a mobile-only television station. The station will launch next year with the name ‘nottv’. Although not a station that you can watch on your TV lift cabinet, it is a very interesting concept.

Back in July, Japan switched all TV broadcasting from analog to digital. Nottv will take advantage of the available analog frequencies to broadcast the station. All shows will be around 10 minutes in length. The objective is to provide short programs that viewers can tune into while they are out and about. Mmbi, the company operating nottv, believes this will be a more personal and interactive way to reach the viewers than watching standard TV at home. All content will be stored in an on-demand format, allowing viewers the opportunity to watch what they want, when they want. Keeping with the trend of incorporating social media with entertainment, nottv will allow viewers to live comment on Twitter and Facebook about shows they are currently watching.

A couple of hurdles remain before nottv can begin broadcasting. The developers are awaiting final approval from the government to use public airwaves. Secondly, in order to tune in to nottv, smart phones will require a special tuner. Luckily, Japan’s largest mobile phone service provider is one of nottv’s biggest investors. Overcoming these roadblocks should be done by early next year, giving nottv an expected launch date of April 2012.

No Release of the iPhone5, the Wait Continues

Today many iPhone enthusiasts were excitedly awaiting the press release of Apple’s latest phone, the iPhone 5.  For those TV Lift Owners watching, you already know that instead of announcing the arrival of the iPhone 5, Philip Schiller, Apple’s Senior VP of Worldwide Product Marketing, announced the release of the iPhone 4S.

Ok, so what is the iPhone 4S?  The iPhone 4S is a new device that will offer these improved features over the iPhone 4.

1.)    Faster download, camera and data sending speed

2.)     Stronger battery life lasting up to 8 hours talk time and 40 hours of music listening capability.

3.)    Upgraded camera which is 8-megapixels.  That is 60% more pixels than the iPhone 4’s camera currently offers.

4.)    Better image quality in low light situations.

5.)    Better video camera at a high-definition resolution of 1080p.

6.)    Can switch between its two antennas to make even better call quality

The iPhone 4S goes on sales starting October 14th. Pricing to be determined.  Preorders for the iphone 4S start on October 7th for AT&T, Verizon and Sprint customers.

While this is impressive technology, many iPhone users were disappointed to discover it was not the iPhone 5, Apple was releasing.  Apple shares dropped as a result of this disappointment.   Hopefully, the iPhone which is now scheduled to be released in 2012, will boast their shares back up.
