Tips for Choosing a TV Stand

If you're considering buying a new television set, you will also need to consider how you are going to have your new TV set displayed.

Although several options are available at ImportAdvantage.com to display a TV, one option you may want to consider is a TV stand.

A TV stand allows you to display your television, store gaming systems, and your audio/visual equipment.  There is also a built-in vent and fan that is designed to keep your equipment safe and cool.  Our models also have the Infrared technology to allow you to change channels without opening the cabinet doors.

Here are some tips to keep in mind while you look for your TV stand.

1) Color – We have a variety of colors available in our TV stand selection.  Make sure to do some browsing to ensure that the TV stand you chose, will fit into your home decor.

2) Size – If you spend the money on a TV stand, you want to make sure that it will actually fit into your house.  Once its in your house, you want to make sure it will fit into the room where you plan on having your TV.  You also want to make sure that the TV stand you select is also large enough to support your brand new TV.

3) Storage Capability – Some models have more storage space than others.  If you only need space for your TV and your DVD player, you won't need as much storage space.  But if you'd also like to try to fit your DVD collection, then you'll need a bigger storage space.  Take some extra time to see which TV stand will have the storage capacity to best suit your needs.

Researching to find which TV stand is the perfect fit for your home is important.  Hopefully these tips will help make that process easier.

Protect Your TV During Playtime

Do you have young ones in your house?  Do you have teenagers in your house?  Do you have husbands who like to watch sports in your house?

If you answered “yes” to any of the above questions, you know what dangers a playing child can present to a large and expensive television.  A bouncing ball, a baseball bat, Nerf gun darts, or just some living room wrestling can threaten to damage your TV.

But you don't want to stop your kids from getting exercise and having fun.  This is especially true when the weather doesn't allow for outdoor playtime.

Import Advantage can help you solve these problems.  With the help of a TV lift cabinet, you can ensure that your television stays safe and you kids stay active.  A TV lift cabinet is a piece of furniture that actually contains a mechanical lift system.

Let's say that the kids want to play in the family room.  You can use a remote control to tell the cabinet to retract the TV.  The TV will slowly descend into the safety of wooden cabinet where it is in no danger of the playing children.  A few hours later, you decide that you'd like to watch your favorite show.  Well then, just use the remote to have the TV come back out of the cabinet.

A TV lift cabinet is simple, safe, and ensures that everyone can have a good time.

As Seen on TV

4310-1That's right, Import Advantage has made it to the big screen that we so often support with our merchandise.

The Banyan Creek TV Lift Cabinet has been featured as a prize item on the popular show, “The Price Is Right.”

This particular cabinet is perfect for a TV that has both a large and flat screen. It allows you to display, or hide, your television, while giving you a lot of storage space for DVDs, stereo equipment, television receivers, and gaming systems.

But the neat thing that most people don't know about TV lift cabinets, is that there is a heavy duty lift mechanism that actually raises and lowers the TV into and out of the cabinet. If you want to watch TV, you can have it raise the TV out of the cabinet to be viewed. Having guests and would rather a beautifully finished cabinet? Have the TV lowered and your guests won't even know that you have a television in the room.

You can view our products on “The Price Is Right,” here.

Upgrade Your TV...and Your TV Cabinet

Have you been putting off a TV upgrade for fear that the new 52” plasma your hubby has been eyeing will dominate your well–appointed den? Fear no more! Today’s big screen high-definition plasma televisions have their OWN appointments – TV lift consoles and cabinets!

In the same way your cosmetics compact operates – you open your compact to powder your nose or check your lipstick, and then snap it shut (tucking it away until its next use) TV lift consoles and cabinets offer tasteful, discreet “compacting” of your high-end TV!

TV lift technology was first introduced into the luxury hotel market, to help guests feel they had “escaped” their daily routine by offering a unique and relaxing experience. Creating the right ambiance was essential, so a minimalist approach to decorating was used. Enter the TV lift cabinet/console.

These TV lift cabinets were hand-crafted from fine wood, including cherry, oak, pine, and mahogany. TV lift technology was developed to work via remote control, so a guest could press a button, and the TV would “lift” out of the cabinet silently, enabling operation from anywhere in the room. Once raised, the TV could be “swiveled”, allowing the screen to be adjusted for optimum viewing. The TV lift, the TV, the cable box, VCR (well, it was a VCR back then; DVD player today!) and accompanying wires were all “hidden” within the beautiful cabinet, out of the guest’s way.

When TV watching was complete, with another simple push of the remote control, the TV submerged back into its cabinet/console, returning the luxurious suite to its former “Zen” state!

TV lift technology is now available to EVERYONE, offering that peaceful, uncluttered atmosphere to your home, office, boat or RV!

In addition to the inconspicuous nature of this technology, TV lifts also offer increased safety for your new investment. Because the TV itself is bolted to the TV lift, it cannot be bumped or knocked by rambunctious children, pets or party guests! Also, since the TV “disappears” into the cabinet when not in use, there is little chance for the screen to be scratched or smudged by everyday activities.

The Most Ludicrously Expensive Home Theater Components

Choosing the right home theater system can be daunting, but when money is no object it becomes even more difficult. With countless companies competing to make the highest end, most over the top components imaginable, it’s hard to determine where quality stops and smoke and mirrors begins. These 9 home theater components represent a cross-section of the most ludicrously expensive, pointlessly lavish, and ridiculous wastes of money imaginable. Still, if you’ve got a couple million dollars burning a hole in your pocket, some of these are pretty darn cool.

SPEAKERS:

Grand-Enigma

Grand Enigma
Manufacturer: Kharma
Price: $1,000,000 / pair

You can probably think of any number of ways to spend one million dollars, but there’s only one that ends with you being the proud owner of the world’s most expensive set of speakers. Custom made for some wealthy guy in Belgium, there is only one set of these in existence. But, if you’re willing to cough up the money it’s likely you can commission Kharma to make you a pair that’s worth one-million-and-one dollars.

Infinite-Wisdom-Grande-Loud

Infinite Wisdom Grande Loudspeaker
Manufacturer: Wisdom Audio
Price: $700,000 / pair

If you’ve always dreamed of having a pair of speakers that’s over twice your height, look no further than these. At 13 feet 4 inches tall and an imposing 3,800 pounds, these speakers will ensure that no amount of free beer and pizza will ever convince your friends to help you move. There’s absurdly huge, and then there’s the Infinite Wisdom Grande Loudspeakers.

CABLES:

Nordost-Cables

The Whitelight Glass Fiber-Optic Cable (LEFT)
Manufacturer: Nordost
Price: $32,850

Yes, you could purchase a fiber optic cable from Amazon for five bucks. You could even opt to spoil yourself and throw away forty or fifty dollars on a Monster Cable. But both of those options pale in comparison to purchasing Nordost’s Whitelight Glass Fiber-Optic Cable for the cost of a nice sedan. Rather than spending almost thirty-three grand on this one “premium” cable you could actually buy enough standard fiber optic cables to cover almost 3.75 miles.

Odin Supreme Reference Cables (RIGHT)
Manufacturer: Nordost
Price: $26,000 / pair

Another gem from Nordost, these speaker cables make those lame normal ones look like strands of dental floss. If you absolutely have to have, “twenty-four 20 AWG conductors made from 99.99999% oxygen free copper (OFC) with an extrusion of 85 microns of silver on the surface” then the Odin Supreme Reference Cables are designed just for you. If, on the other hand, you like treating your hard earned money with a bit of respect, you might want to take a pass.

AMPLIFIER:

Telos-2500-Monoblocks

Telos 2500 Monoblocks
Manufacturer: Goldmund
Price: $107,800

Dubbed by the maker as, “a dream come true,” this amp boasts specs that we won’t even pretend to understand. But, what we do understand is that if you’re going to shell out 100k for your amp alone, you’d better be using it to power a one of a kind pair of the Grand Enigmas and not some JBL loudspeakers you picked up at Best Buy. “For the discerning audiophile only” doesn’t even come close to describing the market for this product. This amp is for people who just want to be able to say, “I have the best.”

RECEIVER:

Evolution-707-Processor

Evolution 707 Processor
Manufacturer: Krell
Price: $21,000

A relative bargain at just $21,000, this receiver can be purchased for less than the cost of a Nordost fiber optic cable. Looking incredibly hardcore in its aluminum chassis with “diamond cut detailing,” the Evolution 707 Surround Processor has an impressive four subwoofer outputs so you can be absolutely sure that no matter what room you’re in, the entire house is shaking.

TELEVISIONS:

Most-Expensive-TVs

Diamond Crusted 40 Inch LCD TV (LEFT)
Manufacturer: Yalos
Price: $140,000

Why not take a decent LCD and throw a bunch of diamonds on it? Suddenly you’ve transformed a run of the mill item into something truly remarkable. Just like the henchman in Die Another Day, if something isn’t compelling enough on its own, throw a bunch of diamonds at it and see if that helps. Spoiler alert: it doesn’t. Plus, what do you do when the TV is outdated? Yank out the diamonds and have them embedded in a new one?

150 Inch Plasma TV (RIGHT)
Manufacturer: Panasonic
Price: $150,000

Even if bigger isn’t always better, it’s definitely more manly. This recently revealed TV from Panasonic is enough of a beast to temporarily lay claim to being the largest screen on the market. The one obvious catch (aside from the price tag) is that once you install a TV this large, you’ll never want to leave the couch. Oh, that and the fact that your wall will be dominated by a 150 inch black monster.

REMOTE CONTROL:

RC1-Remote

Solid Gold RC1 Remote
Manufacturer: Lantic Systems
Price: $50,000

Much like the diamond crusted TV; this gold plated remote has all the functionality of something you could purchase for a fraction of the cost. However, it’s much much shinier. Busting out a fancy Logitech remote doesn’t quite convey your incredible status as one of the privileged few. On the other hand, pawing at a $50,000 piece of gold whenever you want to change the channel absolutely does.
